A Glimpse into Scott

Scott and I are having lots of fun while the girls are at school. We like to go on errands together and he loves it when we get to go to the park in the mornings.

His most recent fascination is with pulling toys. We have a pink wooden duck from when Sammi was his age, but its back legs keep breaking. The other day Brent came home with an old school Little People bus. Scott insisted on holding on to the string with two fingers at the very end. It kept slipping through his fingers so Brent found a large heart from a broken necklace and tied it to the end. Now he pulls it happily everywhere! Here's a video:

Turns out, Scott also likes crafts. Something he has in common with Sammi! Here are a few pics of his crafting adventures:

And lastly, the kid loves, LOVES books. He won't consent to sleeping unless he has every book he can see added to his crib. It's usually about 8 books, sometimes more, rarely fewer. His favorite right now is The Chimpansneeze. It has a chimpanzee and a kinkajou who are friends and lose, then find each other, through their sneezing adventures. When Scott wants this book he does the cutest pretend sneeze. We spend a lot of time pretend sneezing these days!

A New Crafting Blog

After much deliberation, I decided to create a special blog to showcase my crafting projects and ideas. This was done to allow this blog to highlight Sammi and her crazy adventures without all the jumble of my other hobbies. Baby Doll Afghan

Here are the flowers I've done so far. I came across this adorable idea on stardust shoes' blog and got the pattern from Lion Brand Yarn's compilation of free patterns. Joanna's idea was to make a bunch of the flowers and then sew them together in an afghan shape (instead of a scarf as the pattern directs). I thought that would be perfect for Sammi's baby doll blanket. I chose yarn from the collection I've acquired over the years. The colors are not that attractive, but I thought they would make a bright blanket for her baby.

Starting the Denim Blanket

Melody came over today and we started cutting out the squares for our denim blankets. We gathered all of our materials, pulled out our brand-new Gingher scissors, my newly replaced rotary cutter and mat and then looked at each other! The first cut is always the hardest.

But we finally braved the unknown and cut up our jeans. At the end I had 80 5" squares. Only 270 left to go! So far I've just cut up the legs of the jeans. My next brave cut will be to tackle pockets. Thank goodness for new scissors (Thanks Brent for the Christmas present!!) because that denim is some pretty thick stuff. I can't wait to start sewing strips together and see the pattern form...

Baby Shoes

I found a pattern for adorable shoes from my favorite and new favorites blogs. Jill, from my favorite blog, has made several pair of these shoes and I was finally inspired to check out the original source at stardustshoes.

The green and blue shoes are a sneak peak at the fabric I'm using to make matching dresses for the baby and Sammi. The red and blue shoes are for a friend of mine who is also having a baby girl. There must be something about being pregnant because I have become an ultra-creative wanna-be! Other projects also in the works include a crocheted baby blanket, a denim picnic blanket and a baby doll afghan for Sammi's baby. I'll post pictures as these projects mature!

That's right! The big news is official. We are having another girl. I'm excited to already have baby clothes for a girl. This time around, though, I'm not going to be so scared about dressing up my baby in lots of outfits (in a single day if I want!)

Valentine's Day Cards

I thought it would be fun to make Valentine's Day cards with my Primary class of 5-year-olds today. We are talking about families and thought it was perfect timing to make a card to say "I Love You." This is a demo card I made.

While I was making that card and cutting papers, ribbons and tying bows, Brent and Sammi were busy crafting too! They made these Valentine's Day cards for grandparents. Don't worry Grandmas and Grandpas, there are three cards! In case I don't get them in the mail in time--They are on the way and we love you!

Valentine's Day Craft

I saw this cute project on KSL Studio 5 and thought it would be so much fun! While deciding if I really had the energy to do it, I came across the cutest blog, homemade by jill, and was truly motivated to make this craft.

They are chocolate covered oreo cookies on lollipop sticks! I decorated some with red candy hearts and some with red sprinkles. They looked so cute arranged in the cup like a little bouquet of flowers. What a great Valentine's Day present.

So, for all my family and friends that I won't get to see at this holiday, I love you! And here's a little treat for you!
