We've Settled In!

So, that was a WAY LONG break! It took forever to get the internet up and running. I was going to have great pictures of our drive across the country, but the camera died a few days before we left and I didn't want to pick out a new one without Brent's input. But, we finally got a new one once we got here, so I have a few things to share from our new home (away from home).

Sammi was a little princess on her birthday. She wore the tiara and balloon everywhere. I was pleasantly surprised when she decided to share it with Elli. What cute sisters. They have really started to playing together and even getting into trouble together.

We met a lot of med school LDS families at a 4th of July BBQ. It was fun to be surrounded by instant friends. The kids played in a little pool and then lit sparklers. IT was fun to visit and eat yummy food.

We went to the Knoxville Zoo. We bought a membership because we only have to go twice and we'll have saved money! It also gets us into the Hogle Zoo back in Utah and the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma. We learned a lot about the local turtles and the not-so-local rhinos. The zoo keepers were very friendly and informative.

We have one more week until Brent starts orientation and then classes. While I'm nervous about him starting and how little we're going to see him for the first several months, I think the anticipation is starting to eat us up. It's hard to be in such limbo, especially for Brent who is usually getting up and going to work everyday. But he's working hard around the house to make us feel at home. We have a garden and he is currently working on a snadbox for the girls. We also finally found chairs for our dining table and we bought paint today for them. I really hope we get that project doen before school starts!

Updates and Pictures

So this is our last weekend before Brent goes to COT (officer training). I'm looking forward to spending the whole weekend together. We even get to go to the temple this afternoon! I'm rather nervous about his month-long absence and being a "single-parent." Fortunately we're here still in Utah where I have lots of family and friends to help me out, entertain me and generally make the time pass more quickly.

We went to CO last week to visit family and friends and to see Jonson graduate from college. We didn't know until we got there, but his graduation didn't start until 7:30 PM! So, we hung out with him in the afternoon, but we didn't go to the actual ceremony. Sorry! But we are very proud of him for reaching that goal and wish him the best at graduate school if he decides to stay in the country long enough to attend all his classes! Silly silly us, we forgot the camera. Very unfortunate since we had some really fun times.

While we were in CO we heard from a gal in TN that made a final decision about selling her house. She's not going to, which means that she wants to rent it to US! Yeah. It's big with a front room AND a play room. The backyard is HUGE and we're going to put a fence up so the girls can play and play and play outside while I do dishes and laundry and clean. (Or maybe I'll just sew and read and blog!) For those familiar with the area (all one of you, Jenny, who read the blog!) it's in Cumberland Gap but I think it's pretty close to the church.

You all know how much I LOVE sleeping baby pictures and I think this one takes the cake:

Here are some of our nature day at the International Peace Gardens in SLC.

And this is Sammi having lunch with the "boys" who worked on the water pipes on our street. We got home one day when they were having lunch. Sammi ran inside for a cheese stick and then ran out and sat right down with them. She was in heaven!

More Ice Cream!

Well, after trying, twice, we missed Ben and Jerry's Free Scoop Day. Such a bummer. But, all is not lost because next Wednesday is Baskin Robbins 31 cent scoop night! Here are the details:

Baskin Robbins 31 Cent Scoop Night
Wedensday April 29 5-10 pm
All 2.5 oz scoops just 31 cents!

As if an inexpensive way to feed the ice cream wasn't enough, Baskin Robbins is also partnering with the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) and there will be Firefighters scooping ice cream and teaching kids about fire safety! Basking Robbins is donating $100,000 to support the National Junior Firefighter Program.

I've been meaning to take Sammi and Elli on a tour of the fire house and haven't gotten around to it. This will be the perfect intro to firefighters before the tour! Can't wait to see you there! The BR in Orem is on State Street and 200 North. Hope to see you there!

More Sleeping Shots

I love those sweet little hands.
Brent caught us napping one Saturday (or was it Sunday?) afternoon.
