A Little Overdue

Sammi's former nursery teacher is an amazing photographer. For Mother's Day she took pictures of all the children in nursery and made the sweetest cards for all the moms. WOW! I just found her blog where she's posted the Mother's Day cards. See if you can find the CUTEST grandbaby, yet. Thanks Amy for being so thoughtful.

Medical School News

So, Brent has been waiting and waiting for his application to be sent to the schools. It was finally sent out on Wednesday and so now we're waiting to hear from the schools about filling out the secondary application. I hate waiting!!

But, in good news, he received an email from one school in Maine Thursday morning. We thought that was a pretty good sign. Then, yesterday afternoon he received a personal phone call from the head of recruiting at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine!!! He wanted to make sure Brent didn't have any questions about the next step in the application process and basically to encourage him to finish his application to LECOM. Brent was pretty stoked about that kind of reception to his application. I was more than stoked! LECOM has been my #1 choice for quite some time. I can't really explain why, except that I love the East, I am intrigued by Pennsylvania and the campus looks beautiful. Not to mention that I like their program and housing is more affordable there than here in Utah.

So, the wait continues, but at least there's a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm excited to see what the next week brings. Congratulations, Brent. You've worked hard for this and I'm so glad it's finally happening!! Good luck!!!

Out of the Raw

We're making gyoza for dinner tonight. Sammi is helping us fold them to get them ready to cook. She pointed to the pan of uncooked gyoza and said they're already cooked. I explained that they weren't cooked yet; they were still raw. Sammi responded: "We need to cook them to get them out of the raw." So smart for two years old!

Brent has called her GQ: you know, Gyoza Queen!

More Birthday Fun

Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Chatterley for saving the day! their package for Sammi's birthday arrived today while Brent and I were trying to decide what to have Sammi wear to bed (we always seem to be short on pjs.) Sammi was excited to open another present, but not nearly as excited as she was about the actual present! She happily put on her pjs (including the shorts for a hat) and took the book promptly to Daddy to have it read to her. What a doll!

Happy Birthday Sammi!

Sammi is 2 years old today. We had a wonderful day. She was simple adorable all day long. Even when she was a bit cranky after her nap, it was cute (mostly because I sent her to Grandma's house to play while I cleaned!--thank you Grandma!)

We had pictures taken today. She was such a poser. There were several poses I thought were picture perfect, but the photographer was going for a different look so she didn't capture them. In the end, though, it was still hard to decide which ones to buy because they were all so cute.

We opened presents and then had dinner. Brent and I gave her a wading pool that we wanted her to play in before bedtime so she played in the water while we got dinner ready. She also got lots of crafting supplies from Grandma Devine (and Grandpa). Grandma and Grandpa Chatterley gave her adorable summer clothes. Sammi kept saying, "Oooh, cute clothes. Mommy look how cute!" From Grandma and Grandpa Passey she got play diapers and bottles and, most importantly, a wide loader with signs and all! She has loved all her toys.

And isn't this the perfect ending to a perfect day! What a wonderful family I have. I can't wait for Elizabeth to be a part of all the fun, too!

Sunday Dilemmas

Sundays are hard days for napping for Sammi. We have church right during her nap time and she is often fairly miserable. We usually miss either sacrament meeting if we can get her to fall asleep or Brent brings her home after sacrament meeting and she naps during nursery.

Two Sundays ago Sammi was doing pretty good and she spent all morning talking about going to nursery. She was very excited about playing with the blocks. So we trucked off to sacrament meeting. That was fairly difficult because she kept dragging Brent to the nursery room to play with the blocks. We figured we'd let her go and see Brent would check on her to make sure she wasn't too miserable. They said she did great and played nicely. I thought that was a miracle considering how tired she was. So we came home from church and gave her a snack while we we getting dinner ready. Brent and I were both running around the kitchen getting things ready so we didn't even see it coming! Brent looked over at her and she was out cold. to her credit, she did finish her yogurt first! I guess she's not quite ready to give up naps just yet.

Adorable Sam

So Sam didn't sleep well Monday night (which means neither did I!) Tuesday morning she came in a woke me up after just four disjointed hours of sleep. I rolled over to see this adorable face covered in my lotion. All I could do was laugh. I think I was basically delirious. But, that was probably a better response than getting mad at her for something I couldn't undo. We smeared her lotion all over my arms and legs. So, it wasn't wasted.

This morning Brent was getting ready to shave and he smeared shaving cream all over his face. He looked just like Sammi! I wish I'd had my camera. What an adorable family!!

Baby Update and Other News

Well, we're on the countdown! Only 6 1/2 more weeks to go until Baby Elizabeth makes her appearance. There are a lot of things happening around the same time: we're moving, Grandma and Grandpa Chatterley come home from Georgia, Brent should start to get invitations for interviews from medical school, and Brent starts Fall classes.

I get overwhelmed just thinking of all that activity! My motto is one day at a time! I've started packing up boxes of books and movies and blankets (definitely the blankets--it's way too hot!)

We were going to try to stay in our neighborhood, but unfortunately, nobody has an empty basement for us to rent. One gal did offer to kick her kids out of their basement for us! As it is, we signed a rental agreement for a house not far from where we are now. They are remodeling the kitchen and adding A/C. If that weren't already tempting enough, it also comes with a washer and dryer! I'm in heaven!
