The End of an Era

As hard as it is to imagine, let alone do, the time has come for Sammi to give up naps. Gasp.

It was taking one and a half to two hours to put her down for bed and her naps were getting later and later (which also meant her bedtime was getting later and later.) Even for all that, she was still waking up between six and six thirty each morning.

So far we are three days without a nap. Granted twice she slept for a little bit in the car; however, she has gone to bed in a wink which is helpful when it's just me putting her to bed with Elizabeth. So the transition will probably be final. I think I need the naps more than Sammi does, but with a little bit of downtime during the day and more quiet time from Sammi going to bed earlier, the sacrifice is worth it.

Yeah, I'll let you know if I still feel that way in a week! Wish me luck.

Oh, and wish Brent luck. He flies out tomorrow for his first two interviews. Erie, PA first and then West Virginia. While I'm a little jealous, I'm mostly excited for him to visit Ann and go to Washington, D.C. I hope they have a blast. Take care of my honey, okay, Ann? Thanks.

It's so hard to give up naps! I will say that about every 4 or 5 days she might need one anyway! At least Cayden does! Every few days he will crash and take a nap or just fall asleep on the couch right around dinner time! the wonderful 'quiet time' was always helpful for me when I was pooped in the afternoon

Done. He'll be well taken care of, and well fed.
I just wish you and girls were coming too! But, if I have it my way, you'll be here soon enough. :)

No more naps!!! I don't know how you do it. Naps are required at our house... for moms sanity.

Hi Amber,

Your kids are so cute! Your husband told me your blog address and I wanted to see your family! I am excited for your husband to interview here tomorrow and I hope he gets in so you can move here! :) Hope you are surviving without him though (I always hate it when my husband has to leave town without me). Take care. I am going to add you to my blog if that is okay with you. :)

Thanks for all your love! No napping has actually been the bravest and best decision I've made in quite some time as a mother. Sammi loves to go to bed again and I am actually less impatient with her during the day. Amazing!

Thanks to Ann and Julie for taking care of Brent while he's out East. We miss him and can't wait for Tuesday when we get him back.
